12of12 January 2012

Wow! Beginning of another year of 12of12.  I love it!
Today was a busy, but fun day.
1.  I finished reading "Among the Imposters" at 1am.  I hadn't gone to bed yet from Wednesday, but it was technically the 12th.  So photo worthy.  My 8 year old wanted me to read books 1 & 2.  They read the first book in her class.  I liked them both.  I got home from book club Wed. night a little after 10pm.  I should've gone to bed, but decided to read "only a couple of chapters."  I read the entire book.  Today my daughter, Miss M, told me there are more to the series.

2.  So because of #1 (aka lack of sleep, stupidity or whatever you want to call it) I woke with a sore throat.

3. Daily sweeping.

4.  My 2 youngest brought me a bunch of snowflakes and the scissors.  The snowflakes were supposed to be hanging on a couple of small trees I still have out.  I guess they thought it was time for those to be put away too so they snipped all the strings.  Not a big deal (phew).

5.  Song and Movement Class.  It is a lot of fun.

6.  Miss Debbie are Song and Movement Class teacher.  Love her!

7.  Banner making.

8.  Miss A went to a different ballet class today to make up one she had missed.  A friend ended up being in her class.  (I wanted to take a better photo but was busy talking to the mom of the said friend).

9.  Belated birthday present for a friend.

10. Miss M in her first day of Creative Dance at our community center.

11. Potstickers. We love them, especially My Pearls.

12. A pro snowboarder already.  Baby helping Miss B get ready for her first day of snowboarding school.  It's a program set up with other kids at her school.  She gets to miss school and go.  And I get to go too!  I will snowboard while she is in class and then with her after class.  Woohoo!  I am very excited!  I haven't gone in years.  I also hope I don't kill myself.

It's RAW!

I had hesitations about going to RAW because I wasn't really in the mood to drive the 45 minutes to get there.  I knew though that it would be worth it.  And I didn't want to miss the opportunity to paint, chat and snack with such amazing women!

12of12 January 2011

Wow!  Another year and another set of 12of12s to begin.  It will be interesting to see how this year pans out.  This week has already been an action packed week.  Warning: This month's 12of12 (so, today the 12th) is more of a downer than upper.   Also what I write may be too graphic for some.

Today's blog is more than just the 12of12.  The photo above + the incident that occurred there is played over and over in my mind.
1.  The week (Sunday - well at least part of Sunday) started off well.  We celebrated B's 9th Bday Sunday evening because we were going to a pro-basketball autograph signing the next night, on her birthday.  (More on the birthday celebration later).
I have felt kind of bad that her birthday turned out the way it did.  B has been a good sport about it and hasn't complained.  We did get to do most everything planned now that I think about it.  But I'm still proud of her.
So that evening the girls we upstairs playing with B's new toy (doll horse).  Rob had just commented on how well they were playing together.  And they were.  Not that that has anything to do with what I tell you next, I just wanted to put that good stuff in writing.  Anyway,  Rob and I were talking in the front room and I was facing the stairway (as viewed in the first photo).  Miss M came down the stairs talking to me (thus I was looking up at the stairs) and then in a flash Miss A is getting on the banister to slide down and goes over.  I see her fall 12 feet on her face to the wooden floor.  I am shaking a little just thinking about the incident.  I run to her and turn her over to see her mouth full of blood.  I can see her teeth knocked in and she is spitting out a part of a tooth.  I didn't notice until moments later that she had also badly split open her chin.  Both Rob and I were in shock and didn't know exactly who to call (this was before seeing the chin).  Our wonderful neighbors were able to come over and take care of the other girls while we took A to the emergency room.  I will spare you the more graphic photos.
She had a CAT scan and only a broken jaw bone.  I write only because it could have been so much worse.  She received 19 stitches: lip and chin.  Had 1 tooth removed.  The oral surgeon didn't want any removed because he would need to use them to wire her mouth shut.  I requested at least the one because it was dangling and I didn't want it to come out on its own and cause her to choke, the doctor agreed.
Monday morning we went and saw the oral surgeon.  Discussed the situation with him and then scheduled the surgery for Tuesday morning.  Rob and I were both planning on going.  I finally found someone to watch my two small ones and arrange for the others to get to school when my baby threw up.  Yes, lets add some really sick children into the mix.  The next day her sister, Little I, joined her in throwing up.  At least it isn't A.   I would hate for her to go through that also right now! I think it turned out to be a blessing that I wasn't there for the surgery.  Rob had to sit in the lobby and I would have been going crazy not being able to know what was happening.  We found out from the surgeon that A broke most all of her teeth, not just a few like we originally thought.  So after her mouth is not wired shut she will be visiting the dentist.  Poor Girl!
This photo is her looking pretty good on Tuesday.  I had to take the photo.  She hadn't shown me this much of her mouth.  She only did it when her friend Mr. M came over.  She is doing well.  She has been pretty brave the entire time.  And has been soaking up the attention as her nature to do so.  She has always been able to coerce people to do things for her and now has an easy excuse.
But, hey, she can get all she wants right now.  I am just so thankful she is home and okay for the most part!!!

To continue on with the 12of12.

2.  A neighbor picking up the older 2 girls to give them a ride to school.  This is one of many kindnesses received since A got hurt.  Dinners, visits, calls, gifts, love, prayers and more.
3.  Baby receiving her nebulizer treatment.  This is to hopefully help her from getting RSV.  Today she did NOT enjoy it.  Not that she ever really does.  But usually I can keep her calm for most of the time.  Not today.
4.  "Peach" the Bear that A received from the hospital.  She has it with her most all of the time.
5.  Miss A painting Thank You cards and Little I painting the letter I.  Always good to create for a stress relief.
6.  So I joined in and did a creative project.  That is actually one of the reasons why I encouraged the girls to paint: so that I could work on a project by them.
7.  Little I now sick with a high fever and later threw up.
8.  A visit from A's best friend Mr. M.
9.  Mr. M's mom, my good friend.  A nice visit for me.
10.  A's liquid diet.  Drinks and pureed whatever she desires.  In the photo her dinner of noodles and white sauce was blended.  BTW, ice cream, brownies and milk make for a great shake.
11.  Miss M comforting her sister by singing a lullaby and caressing her for bedtime.  Miss A actually only has to wriggle her shoulders and grunt a little when Miss B is around to get a back rub.  Like I said, she knows how to get pampered.
12.  Baby climbing the bunk bed.  Nope, didn't learn anything from her sister's fall. Ha!

Overall, everything feels okay.  There definitely has been more love around the house.  I am deeply grateful for my family.  I am thankful for the little things that my children teach me.
I am so thankful for the prayers and love sent by others.  We are blessed!

January AND February 12X12 Photolog

I decided to follow Amy's lead and do the 12X12 photolog.  I enjoy taking photos and this will give an opportunity to play around and hopefully better my skills.  It's never too late to join.  And what a fun and great way to document some of your life's happenings each month.
Here Amy has set up the template and directions on how to use it.

So here I go . . .

12 January 2010

  1. 2 youngest playing together after the others went to school.
  2. Apple has become a part of our family lately.  Rob buys and sells Apple stuff.  Luckily he had plenty of computers when my PC died.  And I was glad that we were able to pull off my info. from the hard drive.  Rob said: I have been wanting us to become an Apple family.  He's had a mac or iBook for awhile.  Sad enough, it took my PC dying for me to change.
  3. Little M loves to stand.  She wants to be like her big sisters already.  You can tell that she is itching to walk.
  4. Everlasting Laundry - not an uncommon task around here.  I feel like it takes a week to get it cleaned and put away just in time to start the cycle again.
  5. I mark the boiled eggs.  One day I decided to put some smiley faces and designs on some of the eggs instead of just a line or X.  The girls loved it.  They picked the designer eggs first.  So now I give all of the eggs more character.  My Pirls enjoy marking them too.
  6. A photo frame I made to sell in my shop.
  7. An incentive jar for Miss M to show better behavior at school.
  8. Little M being fed baby food green beans.  She is amazingly messy when it comes to eating.  This photo is in the early stages of the meal.
  9. Little I enjoying a balloon.  She is a character and knows it too.
  10. Miss A as my stand-in during preparation for B's photo shoot.
  11. B. loved the twirl in the baptism dress.
  12. B's final shot for her baptism announcements.  She looked more grown up to me the photos I took.  It is amazing to think that I have a child getting baptized.

12 February 2010 ~~~  Happy Valentine's Day (well at least it seemed like it).

    1.   My littlest decided to wake up at 6am.  Which would be okay if I had gone to bed at a decent time.
    2. I need more photos of all the girls and tried to fit a quick photo shoot in before school.  As you can see it wasn't that successful.
    3. Couldn't fit all my Pirls into one square  :)
    4. I was in charge of Miss M's class Valentine Party and was making a target hole/heart for the Cupid activity.
    5. iPhone Calendar for today.
    6. Ma Honey had a friend deliver bouquet of flowers to me and candy for the girls.  As you can see on #5 Rob is in Vancouver working at the Olympics - for 2+ more weeks.
    7. I realized that I didn't take many useable photos - so this photo used 2 spaces.  Plus, I love the flowers.
    8. Photo of me that one of the girls took.
    9. Little I and Miss A at Miss A's Valentine's Party.  They LOVED the face painting!
    10. My friend goes over and above anything she does.  I asked her to take care of a nice snack for Miss M's V.party (her daughter is in the class too).  I knew I didn't have to worry about it.  She brought chocolate fondue.  Yum!
    11. Balloons in the classroom.
    12. This photo was a mishap, but I think it shows how the day went - busy.  The girls and I went over to our neighbor's, Sister Clegg (who is 92 yrs old), to watch the Olympic Opening Ceremonies with her.  I meant to take a photo there but forgot.  Unfortunately we didn't get to see the OC because it started at 8pm instead of 6:30pm like we thought.  My baby needed to get to bed.  But it was nice to visit with Sis. Clegg and watch some other stuff with the Olympics.  Although, we were saddened by the tragic luging accident.
