Halloween Halloween
Our Trick-Or-Treaters this year: Little Bear, Tigger, Witch, and Princess
(I couldn't believe after Halloween was over that I didn't get any real good pic.s of the girls in their costumes).
Halloween morn. was busy-2 parades and a class party.
We followed the same basic Halloween Night routine last year, so is it going to become a tradition? I don't think M. wants it to be. We first go ride the Nightmare Express (this is the part that M. would not agree we continue each year). There we get popcorn and a movie while waiting our turn on the train. And then even get a treat at the end. It is fun. The people who run it are very generous to do it!
They keep the train ride "light" for the first hour so that little kiddos can enjoy it.
Tigger's head was in my back a lot of the ride.
We usually trick-or-treat are way back home, but this year we were running late, plus Rob broke his leg and didn't want to have to rush around on foot.
We came home to have Soup in Bread Bowls. This year I made Potato Soup. It turned out pretty good. This is the recipe I created:
Potato Soup
-Boil 8-10 medium potatoes, peeled, 1/2" cubes in 2 cans chicken broth (add water to cover by about 1/2")
-Saute 1 C. finely diced onion
-Add to cooked potatoes: onions, 2 cans Cream of Celery, about 3/4 lb. 1/4"cubed smoked ham, and salt and cracked pepper to taste
- White sauce (melted butter, flour, water or milk) if needed to thicken
- Cook on low for about 15 minutes
- 2 cans chicken
The weather was in the 70's the week of Halloween and was supposed to stay that way until Sunday. But the rain decided to come Halloween night instead. It ended up not being too bad. A bit of a pour at first and then just some light showers now and then.
And then again this year we ended up with TOO MUCH candy. Now remind me again why we parents do this?
